Meet the staff of Portcullis... as they exist on either side of the screen.. err.. dimensional portcullis.
Originally, Portcullis was just an idea. I (Jerry) was freezing my behind off on a long winter nightshift in my guard shack. I was cold, tired, and watching the heavy snow fall and slush buildup on the roads and parking lots around me. This was all the way back in January of 2017. By this point I had been playing D&D for 39 years, since the summer of 1978 – the original bluebook edition of Basic D&D.
I wanted to create a fanzine, but looking into that showed me what a nightmare that proposition would quickly become. Keep in mind this was before AI's and all these fancy new tools you young whippersnappers have created since then. So my friend David Baymiller suggested I start a blog instead. That was more realistic for a man in his fifties, so I started doing that here on Blogger.
Eventually my wife, Rachel, wanted to help write articles. She is a very creative and talented writer, gamer, and popular online streamer. So every now and then she'd take on a project, or help me develop ideas for use in our home adventure campaign, that eventually make their way here.
Diane is... complicated ... and prefers to remain behind the scenes as our proofreader, sounding board, editor, and artwork coordinator. All jobs she is exceptionally well suited for and without whom none of this could continue to grow.
The characters of Redcap, Genie, and Alandra have evolved over the last few months as our comic art and behind the scenes shenanigans have. Expect to see more of them as we keep publishing content.
